Building the world's foundations

For some time now, we've been working in depth on the foundations of Citiizen.
Before talking about features, it's essential to lay solid groundwork: a believable, coherent world designed exclusively for roleplay.

🌍 The Map

Your adventure will take place on a fictional island, largely inspired by France and Europe, but without trying to replicate any real city.
Copying an existing city comes with constraints that don't match our vision for roleplay.
Our goal is simple: create a world that serves RP gameplay, not the other way around.

The geography, distances, neighborhoods and natural areas are designed to encourage:

  • encounters between players,
  • access to believable living spaces as well as quiet and secluded areas.

πŸ“œ Lore & History

At the same time, all the lore and past history of the island have been written.
This work is essential: it gives the world a clear identity, explains its organization, its tensions, its cultures and its evolution.
The player doesn't land on an empty map: they arrive in a world that existed before them.
You're free to write what comes next or ignore it entirely and create your own story.

πŸš— Vehicles

A great deal of work has already been done on vehicles.

Vehicles react differently depending on the surface: asphalt, dirt, sand, mud, grass, etc.
Driving off-road isn't forbidden by an artificial rule: it's simply much harder.
Some surfaces will eventually cause more damage to the vehicle, tires or mechanics.

The idea is clear:
πŸ‘‰ gameplay replaces absurd server rules.

So far, around thirty vehicles have already been created by the team.

πŸ™οΈ Work in Progress

We're currently focusing our efforts on building placement, neighborhood structure, movement logic, and player behavior within this space.

The goal is to deliver a memorable first connection.

From the moment they arrive, the player should naturally see something that catches their eye, that leads them somewhere, then somewhere else.
Much like a theme park such as Disneyland β€” no matter where you look, something makes you want to go there.

πŸš€ Note from the Team

We've just reviewed the foundations of Citiizen.
Future devlogs will focus on fewer topics, covered in more detail.
The idea is to bring concrete content through each devlog and gather your feedback to help us throughout development.
This adventure is just beginning, and we're happy to have you with us.
